JJ and the Stoneponies are a Blues/Texas Country group based out of the Northern Houston area. This group has a wide range of influences, one set they are on southern fried rock n roll and the next, americana country. With the release of their self titled EP " JJ and the Stoneponies", the group has been solely focused on getting the music to the public the old fashioned way......live performance and playing every opportunity they can.
The story behind this group begins in Fetzer, TX at a little place called Henry's Hideout. A then young player, Josh Kimich met singer Josh Chase at a week night open mic jam. Soon after the two began to casually play together on the front porch and the occasional acoustic performance. Throughout the next several years, Kimich performed with other acts while attending college. It wasn't until 2012 the two decided to take the music seriously. So they called up long time friend and bass player Anthony Rivich, who decided to join the project. The three all varied on musical influences but found a common area in which they agreed. And that common area is what hits you in the chin when this music comes out of your speakers.
Currently the group tours on a regular basis. Having the Houston area as their home base. Check out the schedule, come hear the music, and you WILL become a fan. Most importantly thank you for supporting your local music scene and thank you for checking us out. See you down the road!
